Moving Stories - Moving On

A Verbatim theatre project about ageing, health and wellbeing presented at The Knowledge Spa. Truro UK on the 2/10/14.

Moving Stories – Moving On’ is a verbatim theatre [piece based on the ‘Moving Stories’ project, lead by Dr Cassandra Phoenix of the European Centre for Environment and Human Health, University of Exeter Medical School.
The purpose of Moving Stories was to investigate people’s experiences of being physically active in older age and also how physically active older adults are perceived by others.
Like much of the population, many older adults live inactive lifestyles and this can have negative consequences for their health and wellbeing. By listening to the stories of physically active older adults about ‘moving’, the research team were able to gain some understanding of how and why – at different points in their lives – they are able to deal with the barriers and challenges to being active that all of us can face.

Moving Stories – Moving On is a verbatim script developed by Jeff Teare (Theatrescience Co-director) from twelve interviews with physically active older adults in the West Country concentrating on their life stories and their attitudes to health, wellbeing and ageing. It was first presented at the Knowledge Spa, Truro UK on the 2/10/14. A short video has been posted and some evaluation will follow.
